Physical Education

Sport is part of Australia’s culture with primary school often being where students first participate in organised sport.  It is important that these experiences are positive if students are to continue a lifelong association with sport.  All students participate in physical education relevant to their age including dance, movement, games, athletics and ball handling.

Moolap Primary School is also part of the East Geelong District Sports Association where the students in upper grades compete at many sports at various levels including school, district and division levels.

Moolap’s house names have been chosen from the names of famous local sports people.  House names are as follows:

NYIRATI (Judith Nyirati – World Badminton Champion)………Red

MOCKRIDGE (Russell Mockridge – Champion Cyclist)………… Green

ROYCROFT (Bill Roycroft – Olympic Equestrian)…………………Blue

REDPATH (Ian Redpath – Test Cricketer)…………………………..Yellow

An annual House Sports Day is held each year where all parents are encouraged to come along and support your child’s efforts.

Your child will be notified which house colour he/she has been allocated early in the school year.  A red, yellow, green or blue T-shirt should be worn for House Sports events, according to the House to which your child is allotted.
