Next Week is Bookweek

I am really looking forward to Bookweek next week. Students will be completing daily activities connected to book week and celebrating reading. On Friday, we invite all students to come dressed as their favourite book character. Weather permitting; we will have a parade at the beginning of the day on the netball court. At home, I encourage all parents to read to their child(ren) their favourite picture story book when they were young. Alternatively, you may have an outing to your local library or the Geelong Library. Happy Reading!

All Grade 3 and Grade 5 students are taking home their NAPLAN results this afternoon. If you have any questions about these reports please contact your classroom teacher.

Zones of Regulation

We are really happy how quickly our students are taking on board the zones of regulation. The students will continue to explore identifying emotions in themselves and others in the coming weeks. Breathing is one of the most important strategies children and adults can use if they are out of the Green Zone. Six Sided Breathing is an excellent strategy we often use at the school: 1. Take a deep long breath, 2. Hold your breath, 3. Breath out slowly, 4. Take a deep long breath, 5. Hold your breath, 6. Breath out slowly. If you child is becoming agitated or anxious get them to give this a try to calm themselves down.

Flu Season

Unfortunately, we have so many people in our school community sick over the last four weeks. To reduce the spread of viruses and diseases, we encourage children to wash their hands with soap regularly throughout the day. Could you help us by reminding your child of this at home and if necessarily review how to properly wash your hands
